2024 In Review
A Year of Growth, Excellence & Achievement
2024 has been an extraordinary year for SXL, building on our award-winning success in 2023 and achieving new heights. With over 700 members thriving in our programs, 131 competitors representing us at various competitions, 31 gymnasts making the NSW State Team, and an incredible 18 athletes selected as Australian Representatives, our club continues to shine in every level.

Our hard work and dedication were recognized with prestigious state and national awards in 2023, setting the foundation for another phenomenal year in 2024. We were honored to receive:
2023 NSW Gymnastics Awards:
- NSW Acrobatics Club of the Year
- Levels Coaching Team of the Year
- Intermediate Levels Group of the Year
- Junior International Group of the Year

These awards are a testament to the dedication of our athletes, coaches, and support staff, and they have motivated us to push even further in 2024!

International Success – MAIA World Cup & Acrobatic World Championships
MAIA World Cup – Portugal, May 2024
One of the biggest highlights of 2024 was sending 17 of our top Acrobatic athletes to Guimarães, Portugal, to compete in the prestigious MAIA World Cup against some of the best acrobatic gymnasts in the world.
Incredible Achievements at MAIA:
- Two groups qualified for the finals, a huge milestone on the international stage.
- Both finalist groups delivered outstanding performances, finishing in 5th place overall!
Competing at this level is a true testament to our gymnasts’ hard work, resilience, and world-class talent. Representing Australia on the international stage is a huge honor, and we are incredibly proud of their achievements!
World Championships – Portugal, September 2024
Another historic moment for the club came in September 2024, when two senior groups qualified for the Acrobatic Gymnastics World Championships in Portugal. This marks a significant milestone in our club’s history, showcasing our athletes at the highest level of the sport.
A Groundbreaking Achievement:
- One of the first-ever Senior Mixed Pairs from Australia competed in their division, an incredible accomplishment for both our club and the country.
- Both groups trained relentlessly leading up to the competition and performed to the best of their abilities on the world stage, demonstrating the skill, determination, and teamwork that define our gymnastics discipline.
This achievement is a testament to our club’s dedication to developing world-class athletes, and we couldn’t be prouder of our gymnasts for representing Australia at the highest level!

Competition Success:

Community & Club Growth:
- We welcomed over 700 members across recreational and competitive programs.
- Hosted our annual end of year concert to celebrate our athletes.
- Strengthened ties with local schools and community initiatives to promote gymnastics.
We are so grateful for such an incredible year and we look forward to doing it all again in 2025!
